What Do I Need To Bring Glamping Post-Covid-19?
What do I need to bring glamping post-covid-19? We’ve been getting this question a lot lately. And not surprising! The world has changed. And so has our glampsite. We have added private bathrooms for each accommodation, as well as picnic benches, BBQs and a cooking kit to help you prep, cook & eat your meals while socially distancing. We’re also providing a chimnea (outdoor stove) so you can get the campfire experience & toast marshmallows with complete peace of mind.
But all these social distancing solutions have thrown up new questions. What’s in the cooking kit? Is there a fridge? What about a kettle? Is The Glamp House open? Anything else I need to bring? A lot of these questions are covered in our FAQs, but here, we try to unravel the mysteries and make it easier for you to pack…
What’s in the cooking kit?
The cooking kit is quite basic but has the essentials. Including:
- Melamine plates, mugs & bowls & cutlery, & plastic beakers for kids.
- Chopping board
- BBQ tongs
- Travel kettle (this is a low voltage kettle that can be used in the electric sockets in your accommodation. Please do not bring a standard kettle as it will trip the switch!).
What kind of BBQ is it?
Each accommodation has a gas BBQ. Gas is provided.
The BBQs have a little side burner for cooking a pot of pasta or rice, etc.
Is there a fridge?
Yes and no. There is no fridge in the accommodation itself. There is a shared fridge & fridge/freezer for guest use in The Glamp House. We can provide a coolbox if you wish. Please bring your own cooler blocks or ice for use in the coolbox.
Is The Glamp House Open?
Yes! The Glamp House is open for socially distanced use. We have had to remove shared cutlery & crockery from The Glamp House due to covid-19, but there are some items for shared use, including:
- Fridge & Fridge/Freezer
- Gas Hobs
- Frying pan
- Bread knife
- Tin opener
Touchpoints are sanitised daily, and there is anti-bacterial spray available for guest use in The Glamp House too.
Is the Campfire Open?
Yes, the campfire area is open for socially distanced use if you wish. We are also providing individual chimneas (outdoor stoves) for each accommodation if you prefer to use them. All wood, kindling, firelighters & matches are provided.
Is bed linen provided? Should I bring my own?
All bed linen is provided & our linen is laundered at a high temperature for your safety, but you are welcome to bring your own if you prefer. Please let us know in advance if you do not require bed linen.
Are extra blankets & cushions provided?
No. We usually would provide these, but post-covid-19, we have had to remove additional soft furnishings to protect our guests.
Are there leaflets/brochures on local places of interest available?
Again no. We would normally supply these to guests via our Glamp House noticeboard, but have had to remove all additional ‘high touch’ surfaces such as brochures. We have a laminated (washable) list of top places for family outings on the noticeboard instead. You will also receive loads of info on local places via email when you make your booking, and of course, we also have lots of suggestions on the Activities page of our website.
Do I need wellies?
Do bring a pair. You won’t need them on the glampsite as we have dry gravel paths around the site, but they’re very handy for walks in the wood, exploring the bog, and the beautiful Slieve Bloom Mountains.
Do I need a torch?
The glampsite is lit with low level lighting, and each accommodation has bedside lamps inside, but a torch is always handy.
We recommend that you bring a pack of marshmallows & some skewers for toasting marshmallows & making smores. Whether you use the campfire or your private chimnea to do it, it’s always a highlight of any glamping trip.
We hope this answers your questions! And we hope you enjoy your glamping trip. Goodness knows you deserve it after all those long days of lockdown!
